The Mexican economic perspective for 2009

February 23, 2009. 08:42

In-between the world economic crisis, Mexico intends to face the wave with the ability given by the previous domestic experiences. The new feature is that this time the Tequila did not cause the hangover. Doing business in Mexico is no longer a matter of putting order in chaos.

Government officials have stated that the macroeconomic figures are solid and ready to face the crisis. Other alternative is grounded in the “sufficient” Mexican International Reserves (85 billion dollars) which could be used by the government in order to inject liquidity to the domestic market.

Still, the truth is that Mexico´s most important partner is suffering the worst economic scenario in decades; as a result the Mexican economic perspectives have started to suffer in the beginning of 2009.
